Artease Cafe

We happened to be at Serangoon area so trying to look for a cafe nearby.  Did a search online and found one that tucked in the neighbourhood.  The name of the cafe just so familiar for me. Later then I found that I saw it somewhere and it is selling bubbles milk tea at other places.

We just had the coffee there, the desserts all doesn't looks nice to us. Coffee is average.

The Book Cafe

The cafe that combine books and food in a place.  Good idea especially for those who love to read. You can find a lot of book and magazine at this cafe. Grabbing one book, sitting at the sofa and have a coffee is one of the best way to relax and enjoy your life.

I like the cafe's environment,  it is cosy and feel home at certain corner. How is the food? If you come purposely for the food, I guess mostly will be disappointed.  Having tried so many cafe, I feel the food doesn't worth the visit. Most of their pastries are getting from outside suppliers but there are 2 on menu is made in house. I had a habit now to ask every cafe the same question when come to dessert. 

Egg Royale - not too bad. Served with extra rosti.
Fried Fish and Tomato Spaghetti - as usual, averages taste.
Lime Nut Pie - not the usual shape as what I had always. This is one of the two dessert that made in house. My friend said it is really sour and I felt just nice.  Nice for the dessert.

Conclusion: For environment - Yes. A great place to hang out. For food - Not worth the visit.

Little Prince Creamery Cafe

Another cafe up at Toa Payoh area, I can see more are on the way. This is the latest I found which is near the block that I am staying. Probably less than 10mins walk. Good news for me especially I like the waffles texture. Do keep up for the standard.

The decoration is great, although I am not the fan for Little Prince, but I still like the cafe's design. The owner for this creamery cafe is the same as the one who owned The Little Prince Cafe 小王子咖啡座. I never been there but I saw some online pictures, they have the same design.

The main stuff that is selling here is waffles and ice cream.  You may see on the blackboard for the menu and the price of waffles and ice cream.  I did twice visiting in 3 days with different group of friends.

First try I got their Noir with Waffle($7.4). Noir is premium ice cream so it costed more. I am not a chocolate lover but I like the bitterness of this ice cream and most importantly it is not sweet.  The lady boss said this is a very very dark chocolate version. The waffles is crispy outside and soft inside.  This is the way of waffle I like.

2nd visit I tried the Ham and Cheese Waffles($7.9) and Thai Milk Tea with waffle. Both tasted quite good especially the savoury waffle. One disappointed stuff is they used sliced cheese instead of adding the cheese to the waffles batter. I feel that might taste better. I myself never try that but after seeing this version, I am going to try out myself.

Nevertheless,  this is so far a good place to hang out and I can see myself returning if I have any craving.  The good to have a good cafe nearby.

NOM (No Other Meaning)

The booming of the cafe is everywhere in Singapore now. I had lunch with colleague and I am thinking of cafe. I really found it, there is one cafe nearby Macpherson area. I am not sure how long is the cafe exists but I think from the outlook of the cafe, it shouldn't be too long as it looks pretty new.

I did a search and found that almost everyone who visit here will try its rainbow cake. However, due to limited space and time, I did not manage to go for desserts after our lunch. Overall, the dishes that we tried consider good as compare with some other restaurant and cafe.

My Latte with extra Espresso Shot($3.9+$1) - I am disappointed the latte served without the art. Am I here for coffee or art? Probably some of the reason I wanted to get latte is because of the arts. I should go for pure espresso next time. Someone told me, if you order latte means you dun know how to appreciate coffee. Glad that I added extra shot so it tasted better and not so milky. My friend got Espresso($2.5) but she said very diluted,

Breakfast Rosti($14.9) - Overall is good but I feel the rosti is too oily. I don't like the oily after taste.

Ultimate NOM burger($13.9) - the patty is good, this is quite filling and we did not manage to finish all the fries, Fries a bit over-fried. Overall I am quite satisfied with the burger.

Artisan Bolangerie Co (ABC)

I passed by this cafe and bakery at Great World City and saw their bakery looks good. When I was here, I was struggling whether to try their pastry or the egg benedicts as I saw good review. In the end, I got my Egg Benedict($19.5++). Compare with other cafe, this consider quite expensive to me. So it better to be good. You can find their other item from the MENU HERE.

I had flat white for my drink. The coffee here consider quite good for my preference.

Egg Benedicts is really good with the yolk flowing. However, I did find the standard is not the same. I can said I was lucky. The guy next to me ordered the same stuff and his version is the eggs were totally cooked. May be he requested for that.

Assembly Coffee

Be frank, I was quite disappointed with my visit here. Not to the coffee but for the food that they offering.  They have very limited choice but that shouldn't be a problem.

The cafe's kitchen is small and it doesn't have much space. Not much fancy design but still nice place to have a meetup with a group of people, not too big. There is a long high table and chairs which we felt the high is not right. Either the table to low or the chair too high, not very comfortable sitting there. So we changed our seat.

We ordered something from the menu and got a cake on the shelves. The pastries did not looks good to me as some of the items seemed to us like it had been displayed for long. You can see that from the cake easily. We chose the one that looked fresh. However,  first bite we were disappointed. We felt these pastries somehow should be coming from some commercial suppliers. We got it right.  Everything displayed on the shelves are not made in house. We are not sure whether all from the same place but both that we tried are not really good.

Cortado($4) - ratio of milk and coffee is 1:1. I made the right choice, this is what I like. So no complain with coffee.

Earl Grey Caramel Waffles($11.5) - rated one of the best 5 waffles in Singapore in Year 2013. I guess everyone has its own preference. May be the day I went the waffles did not present well. It tasted average and totally no earl grey smell at all.

Banana Muffin($6.5) - Only top layer is nice, not much banana smell and the muffin actually bad according to my friend. She said I made better than this. Thanks for her compliment. I definitely had a better banana muffin at other cafe.

Quiche of the Day($9) - it is an ham and spinach quiche. For its price, I feel the quiche is too mini. Taste average.

Cappuccino($4.5) - my friends said it is good for them
