St.Marc Cafe

We walked pass this cafe at Marina Square and was attracted by the cute chococro display im the shop. Me and my sister feel it looked good so we bought one and shared. The taste was good but we both feel if we had it warm, that will be even better.

TCC

My friend visited us and we went to Clarke Quay for dinner and drink, at the same time enjoying the river view. We requested to have outdoor seat as we felt that is the best seating. The 2 dishes below from my friends's comments were, they are ok, not very fanciful. The black sesame cheesecake tasted average.

We visited TCC before one of the meeting to get together to know each other in the team. The reason why the boss chose here was because of her 50% birthday treat as a TCC member, I at least will visit TCC once a year mostly on my birthday too for my member benefits. The cuisines here are not bad, the crayfish salad is the usual that I ordered as I like the way it presented. The pumpkin soup was exclusively for Christmas season and so as some of the Christmas themed desserts.

Sushi Express

Everything here cost $1.50++ and they served on the pink plate for everything. It is easier for the to do calculation and save time. The waiter even use the chopstick to calculate the no of plate we have and it is corect. I wonder is that is a measuring chopstick. I never been to this sushi place but my friends come quite often. It is consider very good price.

I personally quite like the miso soup here as you will find salmon, toufu and seaweed in it. It is quite favorable and I love it while hot. You will be sitting beside the belt and you just grab whatever you want. Everything I tried are quite nice except the cheesecake and mango pudding. The cheesecake is failed for me as I dun really tasted strong cheese flavour. Mango pudding have too strong artificial mango taste which I don't like it but other may like.

The Standing Sushi Bar

This sushi bar is famous among my colleague and I always wanted to be there. Initially when the 1st branch opened, I heard from my colleague, you have to stand and eat, there was no seating for the diners. There are 2 branches; one at Marina Bay Link Mall and another at Queen Street. I met my colleague for dinner and happened the day is Wednesday and Queen Street branch have the weekday night promotions. So, we got 50% off for all the rolls, handrolls, and alcohol. In addition, there is 15% discount for Standard Chartered Credit Card for ala-carte order.(As of December 2013). This is really worth to try out if you are sushi lover.

Monday - $3 salmon sashimi, $2 sake, $5 beer, wine, hot sake, and umeshu
Tuesday - 50% off nigiri sushi, sashimi, and alcohol (housepour glass)
Wednesday - 50% off rolls, handrolls, and alcohol (housepour glass)
Thursday - $3 salmon sashimi, $2 sake, $5 beer, wine, hot sake, and umeshu

The rolls, if compare to some other restaurants, this is smaller version but taste good. Sashimi is fresh, the grilled vegetables and salad are delicious too. I did not taste the grilled chicken wing but my colleague said that is average.

Menzo Buta

Another new ramen chain in town. It is located at Marina Square, the newly renovated area called The Dining Edition – featuring 16 mid-to-upscale restaurants and cafes.. When we walk from City Hall MRT via citylink, you will normally pass by the new area, there are quite a lot of new eatery to explore.

Menzo Butao is a colourful variation of Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen. We provide mainly three soup bases - White, Black and Red. The name sounds like another ramen chain at raffles city which offer the same soup based.

I personally prefer Menzo Buta as I loved Hakata ramen, the soup is favorable but not as thick as other which is just nice for me. The only thing I want to avoid is the thick oil on top of the soup base. I think that is best to go with ramen but too me is too oily and I had to remove that before enjoying my ramen.

White Hakata Ramen with Char Siew($12.90++) - Taste good for me, the portion is not too big, just nice. The egg can be improved.

Red Hakata Ramen with Seafood($14.90++) - This is not the original presentation. My friend is allergy with seafood somehow she is fine with scallop so we requested the staff if they can helped to change the other seafood to scallop and great that they are fine with it. It is not spicy, taste almost the same as the white one except a bit spiciness with the soup.

Bar and Billiard Room

I had company lunch at Bar and Billiard Room for the European buffet which serves variety selection of the cuisines that I like. I am a dessert person so the 1st session that I normally check out is the desserts corner. I was happy to see interesting desserts especially the tiramisu, opera cake(not the usual chocolate flavour), desserts in cup etc.

Next is the other selection, the cold session which include sashimi, oyster etc; the bread and salad session; the soup - lobster bisque and mushroom soup; grilled meat session and pasta corner. The grilled meat and pasta session need some wait so I missed that as I was busying trying other until I had no room for that. However, I did see my colleague's portion, looks nice and tempting.

I was quite disappointed with the lobster bisque, I used to like it very much but I guess the Bar and Billiard Room's version not the one I like. The rest of the food are between average and great. I was so hungry that I even forget to photo before eat.

For desserts, I like the bread pudding, the berry opera cake, tiramisu, cheesecake, lemon tart etc, they are all very nice and I hope I can try each of every single of it.
