Bar and Billiard Room

I had company lunch at Bar and Billiard Room for the European buffet which serves variety selection of the cuisines that I like. I am a dessert person so the 1st session that I normally check out is the desserts corner. I was happy to see interesting desserts especially the tiramisu, opera cake(not the usual chocolate flavour), desserts in cup etc. 

Next is the other selection, the cold session which include sashimi, oyster etc; the bread and salad session; the soup - lobster bisque and mushroom soup; grilled meat session and pasta corner. The grilled meat and pasta session need some wait so I missed that as I was busying trying other until I had no room for that. However, I did see my colleague's portion, looks nice and tempting.

I was quite disappointed with the lobster bisque, I used to like it very much but I guess the Bar and Billiard Room's version not the one I like. The rest of the food are between average and great. I was so hungry that I even forget to photo before eat.

For desserts, I like the bread pudding, the berry opera cake, tiramisu, cheesecake, lemon tart etc, they are all very nice and I hope I can try each of every single of it.

Starz Restaurant

We was invited to have a site visit to RWS and then for a buffet dinner.  I had been to Starz Restaurant once few years ago when there is some promotion and we got cheap deal. I did not have much memories of the food so I guessed the buffet I had that time quite normal. This time round, I have a feeling like the menu and dishes served were all better than my 1st experience.  You can see the hot dishes like roasted beef, laksa,  battered fish, fries, spaghetti, Chinese roasted pork and a few selection of Indian cuisine; cold dishes like sashimi and salad; different kind of cheeses and quite nice selection of desserts. Overall I feel quite satisfy for the 2nd experience.

The oyster looks so tempting but too bad that I cannot taste it due to some personal phobia.

My boss said the fried fries was so nice and crispy that she took it for 2 plates. She could not resist the temptation.

Aquamarine II

After so many years, I had buffet dinner at Aquamarine with a team of colleagues. My 1st experience 5 years back was great. Aquamarine is halal certified so if you have any Muslim colleagues come along with you, this is a good choice as the location is great and this is hotel buffet.

I guessed we were too late for the dinner, when we came around 8pm, I found a few of the dishes were no more. I got my 1st round with some dishes and when I proceed with 2nd round, I found most items gone and there is no refill. May be the restaurant wanted prevent wastage. So I would suggest if you are late, please dun expect too much on the food.

The buffet was average and luckily there was 15% discount on the bill. The sashimi and prawn was fresh.

Duyung Restaurant

I stayed at Grand Lexis Hotel for 2 days when a friend had her wedding ceremony at Port Dickson. Buffet breakfast was included with the stay.

The breakfast costs $42++ if you walk in and dine. It is considered expensive for me. However they have quite a lot variety Local delights like roti jala, mee goreng, nasi lemak,rendang chicken, curry chicken,porridge, dim sum, noodles soup; international has the salad, assorted bread and pastry with assorted jam; Indian have a few too; desserts you can find assorted fruits and yogurt.

Taste is quite subjective to the cuisines, I found roti jala, mee goreng and rendang chicken tasted great; international tasted standard and good. I had the breakfast for 2 days. They had the same menu, the difference only a few dishes being replaced.  For eg. Day 1 I had rendang chicken, carrot juice, curry gobi. Day 2 I had curry chicken, bread pudding, Indian curry vegetables.

Mee goreng, rendang chicken, gobi and pastry all tasted quite nice. I made a good selection on this. Sambal a bit disappointed, not as good as I expected.

The one like the net is the roti jala, it serves together with curry and it is really nice. Jala is a Malay word which means net and roti means bread, so it translated to English should be net bread.

Cafe Mosaic

Project dinner at Cafe Mosaic when it had the one for one promotion for its buffet. We went on weekday buffet dinner which is $68++, $88++ for weekend. I was looking forward for this buffet, wondering what food it would served. 

There are salad bar, sashimi, sushi, some cooked salad,  cooked dishes, noodles and stir fried vegetables, desserts and fruits. To save my stomach space, I skipped the salad bar, tried the sashimi and prawn. They were fresh and nice. I took some sushi, average.  Next I had the cooked food, not very impressive. Most tasted average.  The stir fried vegetables, less taste and finally is the desserts. I love tiramisu but I got very disappointed here. Not up to my standard, the desserts were all average.  The best I think is the black forest cake. Tried their coffee and I found it so familiar, Boncafe then my colleague reminded me that is the brand of the vending coffees at our office pantry.  No wonder I felt I saw it somewhere.

For the price of 1 for 1, it is worth to try but not with the original price.

We had vegetarian in the group. The hotel can arrange such that they will prepare a set of vegetarian meal for the guest. You can choose either fried rice or noodles. We chose noodles but on the day we had dinner, we found that they actually served Indian Vegetarian - the curry paneer with prata. Tasted not bad too.
