Jollibee

A very very famous fast food chain in Philippines,  their national fast food. When it opened in Singapore, the queue was really crazy, 1 to 2 hours queue or even longer. Not much local, mostly Filipino who stayed here. The fast food bring back their memory and love I guess.

What I heard from my colleague was the chicken is really good. I had mine once afternoon. Got its very basic fried chicken with rice. Same as KFC in Malaysia,  the fried chicken set in Jollibee definitely come with rice.

How is the fried chicken?  I personally dun like it because of the oiliness.  The marinated taste is good but too oily for me. Next, I somehow felt the fast food is using frozen chicken, therefore it had a very strong frozen chicken taste. I am not sure why I can feel it recently but that made my appetite gone while I smelled it. I do find certain fried chicken fast food have this issue. I did not try others,  the burger lookd good from picture.

McDonald's Thai

Me and my sister were looking around in CM airport to find any special stuff that we can bought for our snack. There aren't much choice and all seems quite standard and I recalled that Mcd in Thai serves pork burger. I checked with my sister whether she interested to try out and we got the Samurai Pork Burger.

The price in airport definitely higher than the town area. The burger didn't taste that great to us or I should said that is just average(my expectation was much higher as I heard really good review), may be due to I don't like the sweet sauce.

Sugarbun

The oldest fast food in Sibu, before I have memory of KFC and McDonald, I only know this fast food chain. The 1st branch that I had is near Sibu Gateway, Mission Road. When I went KL in Year 2000, I used to see one Sugarbun in West Malaysia but then it was closed down. In East Malaysia, it is so common. Sugarbun Fish Filet Burger is MUST try item. They added more varieties to their menu where you can have more choices.

Fish Burger set(RM8.90+, RM7 burger only) - I am glad that after so many years the taste of the fish burger still remain the same as what I had since young. This is the only reason that make me visit Sugarbun again and again.

Fast food chain originated from Malaysia. They are selling fried chicken and burger like KFC, , McDonald etc. I tried their burger and chicken, tasted average but I prefer other fast food chain if compared with the taste.

Yellow Submarines Cheesesteaks

A new fast food chain that opened at Toa Payoh lately. My friend told me the famous cheese-steak burger and I checked online for the menu. I expect a new place like this will be crowded but it is not. I guess it could be due to the popularity not that high and also not everyone like the cheese. Like one of my friend dun like it as he feel the cheese too thick.

I am super cheese lover, so definitely will not miss the chance to try it out. I got Set 1 combo(Yellow Submarines Classic), it come with the beef burger, Torpedo Fries and drink of your choice. It is self-service, you will be given a number and while it is your turn, the number will show and you just go to the "mouth of the burger" to collect. You may request for extra cheese if you want to be more cheesy.

The burger is good with more cheese sauce because I just love cheese. The highlight is the cheese fries. This is so yummy and xinful. I requested additional sauce. The fries is still crispy but if you soak it in the sauce for too long. It will become soggy but that doesn't matter because I still love it!

Cafe De Coral 大家樂

This is the popular fast food chain that you can see almost every where in Hong Kong. I can't recall which one did I went but I remember it is inside the MTR station. It is a small shop, hence, there is no way for you to seat, but they have some tables(limited too) for you to stand and eat there. Most people come here for the meal take away. 

We wanted to have our quick high tea or should be late lunch, there is no other place as we still thinking to have dinner, so decided to have quick and light here.

My friend order this set, very Hong Kong style, macaroni with soup and a toasted bread with condensed milk. He said not too bad or just quite standard.

I ordered steam chang feng with char siew. I did not expected too much, however, it tasted quite nice, with the sauce and chili paste they have. The sauce came along with the food, the chili you need to request from them. Normally it is put there for self service.

The Mushroom Cafe

I never knew that there is a cafe at MacRitchie Reservoir Park until last 2 months when I went there for a walk. While waiting for my friends, I was wondering around and I found this cafe. I was early so I decided to just took something for my breakfast.

The cafe is halal-certified. They have snack bar which serve  Old Change Kee fried stuff, so I am wondering is this under Old Change Kee group. Main courses like sambal fish with rice, nasi lemak, laksa and chicken cutlet are served for lunch and dinner. Traditional favourites like porridge, kaya toast and yam cake are available during breakfast hours from 7am – 10.30am.

The only thing that I dun really like is their hot drinks are all from the dispenser machine, I still prefer the freshly make kopitiam style coffee, milk tea rather than the 3 in 1 machine.

Red Rooster

Common fast food in Australia, but I dun feel really good. The chickens and fries is not crispy enough. I am not too sure whether other branch will taste better. I had it at Melbourne city.

Hungry Jacks

This is the famous fast food chain in Australia. It looks exactly like burger king in Singapore, be it the packaging or the food. So I actually think that they are under the same brand although the name is different.

I then googled online and found out the history behind it. Here are the phase taken from Wikipedia.

"When Burger King moved to expand its operations into Australia, it found that its business name was already trademarked by a takeaway food shop in Adelaide.[1] As a result, Burger King provided the Australian franchisee, Jack Cowin, with a list of possible alternative names derived from pre-existing trademarks already registered by Burger King and its then corporate parent Pillsbury that could be used to name the Australian restaurants. Cowin selected the "Hungry Jack" brand name, one of Pillsbury's US pancake mixture products, and slightly changed the name to a possessive form by adding an apostrophe 's' forming the new name Hungry Jack's"

Not much different in the taste as Hungry Jack's is the same as burger king. It is also one of the cheapest and easiest food that you can find in whole Australia.

Texas Chicken

Fried chicken from USA. I love fried chicken so I actually tried every fast food center if they sale fried chicken. I like Texas because of it recipe. I somehow like Texas more than KFC in Singapore. 

Tasted both original and spicy and I prefer spicy one, so every time I am here, I will get myself spicy fried chicken. I love their bun especially when served hot. The mashed potatoes and coleslaw are pretty good too.  It will be even better if coleslaw is not that sweet.

Promotion: Upsize the combo meal for $1.20 and I got these 2 free bears:) There are 4 in total but not sure which outlet have another 2.

Chic King

There is another fried chicken fast food restaurant has arrived in Singapore, and this one came all the way from the UAE, the middle east.


Although there is tagline like “Real Recipe, Real Taste, Real Fried Chicken”, but when I step into this fast food restaurant, it doesn't give me the feel like it will be good. I went there few times and each time, the standard is different, sometime their chicken is really small and sometime it looks ok. First time I found it is great but the 2nd time I went, I feel not up to standard.

The only food still interested me is the wrap, that is better than the chicken.

Carl's Jr.

This is definetely the best burger(in all fast food range) I had taken before. I love their Charbroiled Beef Burger. I tried their chicken burger before but I still prefer the beef burger, my friend who only take chicken, comment that it is so far the best chicken burger. And their fries is the best too. There is a wide range of burger to choose from, free flow of drink, it will be a good place to chat with friend as well.

Of course the price is also higher than normal fast food. However, i feel the food worth the price.
