Mocha Jo's Cafe

I went there just for the dessert as my friend said the cafe us famous for this. This is the cafe/bar/restauarnt one stop dining place. There were lots of variety of cake and we can just choose from the shelf. The portion of the cakes were much bigger than the one we had in Singapore and of course price is slightly higher if we do not compare with the currency. I like the atmosphere here, the day we went not very hot so kind of windy when sit at outdoor.

Velvetino Italian Hot Chocolate($4.60++) - A very thick chocolate drink. I felt like I am drinking melted chocolate instead of the chocolate drink. It was nice, rich of chocolate but I need water after that.

I can't remember the name of the cakes that we ordered. We got this from the Cake Display, each is $9.50 per slice. The taste was very good and I like the lemon pie more.

Il Dolce Freddo

Homemade ice-cream recommended by my cousin. It seems to be a very famous place for ice-cream. I tried Durian Ice-cream as that is the one she said nice! Yes, durian ice-cream at Australia! Tasted quite good and rich. With the same standard, I can find it in Singapore. SG has a lot ice-cream shop which offer the same quality of Durian Ice-cream too.

I met my cousin for dinner and here is where she brought me to, according to her, they served quite good Chinese food but she has quiet sometime never been there. The meals was ok, not fantastic and I think I can find better elsewhere, and my cousin said their quality seems dropped.

This is their signature dish, the crab noodles which is quite nice. It has to be eaten while not, after cold the food really taste bad.

Fried spring chicken and this consider very normal. Nothing special about it.

The stir fried vegetables with the special gravy tasted ok. The gravy is good to go with rice.

Crown Palace Chinese Restaurant

My first meal in Melbourne and my host brought us to the chinese restaurant after picking us up from the train station. I forgot roughly what time is it but we should be having late lunch or high tea. He said this is quite famous and when we were inside, there are really full house. They served dim sum at high tea and basically similar as the Hong Kong dim sum we normally have.

The only thing special here is the fried stuff with sugar(picture below, top one), it is like our traditional sugar coated donut. However, this tasted better than the donuts, the smell very nice and soft. The fried carrot cake and egg tarts are quite average.

The steam dim sum overall quite standard. It was nice. I especially like the steam pork ribs, tasted good. The chicken claw here are quite nice, not dry as some of the places their claw's skins are very dry. I dun know how much individually, but I know the total bill is $60, which is around $20 per head. For the tourist like me,  I will think it was quite expensive, due to the currency exchage but as local, I think the price is quite reasonable.

St. Kilda Cake House

When I did some research and I forgot who told me if I have chance to go St Kilda, i should try the famous pastry shop there. So when I reached here finally, I dun know how to start? I thought the pastry shop name is St Kilda but I was wrong. St kilda is the place name and there are quite a lot of similar concept pastry house there. Which one should I try then? I dun have enough space and bullet to try everything here.

We walked to those pastry house and looked at their cake and see which one tempted us. 

My friend bought a piece of fruit cake at The Acland Cake shop. There are so many variety of cakes, very hard to choose from. So just got the one 1st attracted you.

I went to Europa and got myself custard vanilla slice. This is so yummy with slices of crispy crust and custard in layers. So xinful. It is quite hard to compare which one is better because we did not get the same type of cake and what I could say is both also tasted very very nice.

Persian Flavours

This is the first time I had Persian cuisines. My host told me the food here very nice and we never try before. Why not? The restaurant not located at very prime area but the interior is quite nice. You can choose to dine in or take away. My host said lot of people take away as this area hard to find parking.

Persian food basically quite similar with North Indian food when I looked at the menu. They have curry & naan. Overall, I felt this really a great meal. Thanks to my host for the highly recommended cuisines.

Chicken Masti($11.80) - It looked like tandoori chicken, but taste differently and this was very nice. The chicken marinated well and is tender and juicy. Yummy!!

Mushroom Spicy($11) - I really love mushroom so I ordered big one. We got the mild one, as we scared too spicy. Now I think of, we should try the hot one instead. The mushroom combination with curry is just so nice and I will sure find the recipe for it and cook myself.

Lamb Curry($9) - We ordered small portion and it really very small. The curry was great to go with naan. I forgot how much is the naan but it was just great.

Zereshk Polow($6.50) - Dun look down at this white rice with pomegranate seed. This is really tasty, the rice is fragrant, never know such a simple rice can be so tasty.

Red Rooster

Common fast food in Australia, but I dun feel really good. The chickens and fries is not crispy enough. I am not too sure whether other branch will taste better. I had it at Melbourne city.

Hungry Jacks

This is the famous fast food chain in Australia. It looks exactly like burger king in Singapore, be it the packaging or the food. So I actually think that they are under the same brand although the name is different.

I then googled online and found out the history behind it. Here are the phase taken from Wikipedia.

"When Burger King moved to expand its operations into Australia, it found that its business name was already trademarked by a takeaway food shop in Adelaide.[1] As a result, Burger King provided the Australian franchisee, Jack Cowin, with a list of possible alternative names derived from pre-existing trademarks already registered by Burger King and its then corporate parent Pillsbury that could be used to name the Australian restaurants. Cowin selected the "Hungry Jack" brand name, one of Pillsbury's US pancake mixture products, and slightly changed the name to a possessive form by adding an apostrophe 's' forming the new name Hungry Jack's"

Not much different in the taste as Hungry Jack's is the same as burger king. It is also one of the cheapest and easiest food that you can find in whole Australia.
