You and Mee

An Indonesia friend recommended this noodles house to us. She said this is quite close to the authentic Indonesian noodles. I had Mee Kang Kong ($5.9), minced pork with the house special sauce and kang kong. Very similar to chinese lor mee but taste a big different especially when you added their own chili. There is numbering on the chili and depends on what you eat, you choose different chili paste. Of course, you can go with the one you like. I went for the default combination and is really good. Must add chili sauce! !

Duke Bakery 面包公爵

I went there to meet a friend for dinnner and atrracted by the large poster on the Duke Bakery. I tried to check up this bakery.  It was late at 9pm and I thought they have sold out all the items as I found the side tray nothing left. However,  I still went in to check out.

Great that I went in, the breads are all placed in the center.  They gave you free sampling for all their bread. One round of tasting I was full, the bread is so tasty to me. I like most of the flavour, but I had to say the price is quite high. The cheapest I saw is $6. The bread looks quite healthy and not oily

My friend recommended me the charcoal chocolate cream cheese($8) but I like raisin more so I got the Raisin with Cream cheese ($6.6). Once a while for this expensive treat,  I told myself.  Imagine I normally get a bread for $2 only. Lol

La Ristrettos

This is really a hidden gem that my friend found. It is located at level 8 Novena Medical Center.  My friend went there to meet her client and she happened to spot this cafe which only operates from Monday to Saturday.  I then googled online and found out it is quite popular. 

The cafe does not have any GST and service charges. What they show on the menu is what you have to pay in your final bill. There is a tipping glass which you may give some tips if you like.

We supposed to order the items on the menu and when we wanted to make the order, we found the blackboard at the counter which wrote star 1, star 2 and new menu. We then directly forget about our choice and choose all from the board as the items look interesting.

The coffee tasted quite good, I quite like this. I will try another next time. The cafe served quite good food and reasonable price so I definitely will be back.

Star 2 ($12) served with baked bean, bacon and poached egg. It looks simple yet yummy, now we know how can we make our baked beans interesting. We all like this compare with the other 2.

Insalata Gamberi ($13.90) - grilled prawn with salad with vinegar dressing.  I like the dressing and it is perfect with salad.

Smoked Duck with green pea and poached egg ($14) - tasted average, the smoked duck is not that salty and it comes with special fried potatoes croquettes

Star 1 - Crepe with Mushroom, Scrambled Eggs, spinach, feta cheese($12) served with enoki mushrooms  and feta cheese wrapped with crepe, scrambled egg with spinach. The crepe tasted special but less flavouring.

BaliThai (Novena)

This is newly open at Novena Square after their renovation.  Bali Thai serves quite good food and I can choose between Indonesian and Thai. I tried their XO fried noodles before but feel like not nice at other branch so I told my friend not to order that.

We got green curry, phad thai with fish fillet and long beans. The curry is so good and phad thai is nice. I am quite disappointed with the long bean as I feel the overall ingredients like doesn't mixed together that affected the taste.

Pasta De Waraku

We were here to try out the Japanese style pasta. We ordered set which came with soup of the day, salad and a drink. The pasta here is average, not the kind that my liking and I really feel I can cook the same at home. Not worth it to eat outside as nothing special about this. The sides also average, not much impression on it.

The spaghetti in soup according to my friend, is quite bad, I did try, and I don't like it either. It is still better to go for the normal style.

Gong Cha

One of the famous bubbles milk tea in Singapore from Taiwan. 1st time I saw it at Novena, still not that famous, then suddenly found it all over Singapore. Tried their milk tea, not bad and I prefer original one. Their signature is the Gong Cha Milk Tea, that is better than the normal milk tea and it is not blended when serve. You will see 2 layers with top is the milk and bottom is the tea.

You can choose your sugar level, type of jelly or even you can request them to reduce the ice if you feel like not having too cold.

I tried their Toffee Milk Tea and quite disappointed with it, as it tasted..a bit strange to me.

Texas Chicken

Fried chicken from USA. I love fried chicken so I actually tried every fast food center if they sale fried chicken. I like Texas because of it recipe. I somehow like Texas more than KFC in Singapore. 

Tasted both original and spicy and I prefer spicy one, so every time I am here, I will get myself spicy fried chicken. I love their bun especially when served hot. The mashed potatoes and coleslaw are pretty good too.  It will be even better if coleslaw is not that sweet.

Promotion: Upsize the combo meal for $1.20 and I got these 2 free bears:) There are 4 in total but not sure which outlet have another 2.

U.d.d.e.r.s Ice-Cream

My colleagues introduced me to this ice-cream shop. They told me, you must try the Mao Shang Wang Ice-cream. Mao Shang Wang is type of higher range durian, I am not a super durian fans but I do love durian. I immediately like this ice-cream because of its rich flavour.

It is also famous for its liqueur ice-cream. Tiramisu, rum and Raisin are xinfully nice too.

I attended their ice-cream making workshop before. It comes with an hour of hands-on class on how to make ice-cream and ice-cream buffet which you can have their ice-cream and waffles unlimited. The waffles are good which suite me well.

Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice

Hainanese Chicken Rice is prevalent in Singapore and has become the “national dish” with unrivalled popularity amongst locals and overseas visitors alike. Even in this day, there are different styles but these are largely due to preferential tweaking to taste. The most famous is sure the Báijī (白鸡) for "white chicken", but I personally prefer crispy skin Shāojī (烧鸡, roasted chicken). This dish is to be enjoyed with several dips, including chili sauce and pounded ginger.

Wee Nam Kee consider one of the best chicken rice in town. To me it tasted quite standard and the rice is well cooked and fragrant.
