Nasi Kandar Yong Suan

My relative recommended this nasi kandar to us. It is quite easy to locate, you just have to find Ipoh Police Station and you are almost there. I saw a long queue at the counter and we joined the queue. After that some good people told us that if we dine in, there is no need for the queue. The queue is for those take away. We then asked him what is the best for this Nasi Kandar, they told us the fried chicken and the beef rendang.

We got both, one portion of beef and 2 pieces of chicken which costed us RM11. My brother said the price is reasonable or consider cheap as you hardly can get this price in KL. Beef curry tasted better than the fried chicken as we felt the chicken is too dry and hard. The gave each plate a whole lady finger, there isn't much vegetables option, so that lady finger is the only vege in plate. Overall, I like the curry and gravy. The one who recommended us here told us, even with only curry and rice, it tasted good. I understand why he has such comment now.

Sibu Night Market

The Pasar Malam (Night Market) is situated in the town centre. Local traders will usually set up their mobile stalls at around 7 pm-11 pm. Items on display are general Malay and Chinese delicacies, clothing, daily necessities, handicrafts and others.

The vibrant Night Market sets up every afternoon around 5pm and operates until 10pm or sometimes later. The stalls offer all manners of household goods, footwear, fashion items, and all varieties of food.

You may find all sort of the traditional foochow cuisines and Malay cuisines at this market, some stall selling the same items and if you ask me which one is the best. I can only said that depends to individual preference, or you may use the standard way to judge - where the stall is crowded means it is famous?

This stall selling all the fried stuff, we got the fried sandwiches(RM1 per pieces), fried foochow pastry(RM1.50) and fried banana(RM2 for 3). The best is to eat while hot as it will turn soggy when it cool and that affected the taste. I like the fried foochow pastry and banana.

Crispy pancake(RM0.5 per piece) - it used to be RM1 for 5, that was many years ago. I still love this snack, whenever I come to pasar malam, I will sure get it.

Fried Potatoes(RM2) - very commonly see it everywhere, tasted quite good with mayo and chili sauce. My mum said the one with cheese tasted better.

ABC Food Corner

Our very late dinner at around 10:30pm as we were jammed in highway for an hour. Originally we planned to go for other food but it was closed. So we decided to just go to any mamak stall(Indian Malay cuisines - they normally open until quite late) to have quick fix. It wasn't too late for mamak place, so I still saw a lot of people in the kopitiam.

We had teh tarik - my usual order if I come to mamak place, tasted average. I had mee hun goreng, my friends had maggi and mee goreng. All feel tasted average but this is really a good place if you have no idea on what to eat or if you want late night supper.

Ramly Burger Kluang

Ramly burger, a very famous burger which you can see almost everywhere in Malaysia. This is so far still the cheapest and great burger made locally.

We were craving for the burger,  so we drove around Kluang after the dinner to look for it. We found the 1st one but we wanted to have burger special (with egg) and the stall run out of the egg. Luckily we managed to find another stall at other street. We got 2 Beef Special (RM2.80) and one Chicken Special (RM3) which is even cheaper than the 1st we went. That stall selling at RM3.50.

Ramly burger is so famous because of the way it cook. The patties and bun was pan fried on a very big pan. This is the 1st time I saw the boss use curry powder,  normally they use pepper. Overall, the taste still very nice. I love it!!

Ramadan Bazaar Sibu

I always love to go to the ramadan stall to source for food and there are so many varieties of Malay food. They only have it once a year, a month before Hari Raya Puasa during their fasting period. There have BBQ chicken, Malay mix rice, roti canai, roti john, all sorts of kuih, satay, panggang, layered cake, fried noodles, fried food, BBQ fish and sotong etc. One stop for all delicious food which is best for me as I can choose anything I like.

This round I got Murtabak ($2), roti john ($3), BBQ sotong ($5), daging masak hitam ($5- beef cooked in dark sauce, so delicious), satay chicken ($2 for 4 pieces) and sugarcane drink ($6 for 1.5 litre). All food are so yummy and great except the BBQ sotong which had a weird taste for me. For $5, it was considered cheap but when we started eating we hardly can find sotong inside.

I wanted to get the panggang from ‘Pulut Panggang Kak Yam Noor’, a traditional Malay offering of glutinous rice wrapped in a banana leaf and then barbecued. However, I had no luck, when I reached there, they were closed.
