Nana Thai Restaurant

IWe were wondering what to have for our dinner around Orchard but had no idea. The only requirement was we wanted hot soup. We decided to go Far East Plaza and try our luck and we found Nana. It has exactly what we want - hot Tom Yum soup. It is located at Level 4. Nana is halal certified restaurant so you will see most eater is our Malay friend, I think Chinese all go over to the next door sushi  bar.

When I looked at the menu, it seems like is Chinese and Thai mixed menu. We had Thai Style Gong Bo Chicken($12) - this is really good, I recommended this if any of you are here.

Next, our Seafood Tom Yum soup($12) - not the best we had but is good enough for us especially we were craving for it.

Oyster Sauce Kailan($10) - I should order the sambal Kang kong. This is average, nothing special on this.

Overall, I am quite sastified with my meal. My next visit I surely want to try the sambal Kang kong and curry fish head may be.

Nana Thai Restaurant

I have always heard about the great thai food at Golden Mile Complex. I dated my housemates for dinner and decided to check out this place.  Golden Mile Complex also known as little thai reason being there are so many thai restaurant and there is one Thai supermarket.

There are so many thai restaurant and I dun know which one is the nice one so I checked online and found Na Na seems ok to try. I did asked a friend and she told me the orange colour signboard.  When I reached there I found there is not only 1 restaurant with orange sign board.

Overall the food is consider ok but as fantastic as what I expected. This may be close to what original Thai has as some dishes tasted a bit different from what I had from other Thai restaurant in town. The only dish that I cannot accept is the papaya salad with crab pickles. The smell of the crab pickles is so strong that I totally cannot accept and it is very salty. Overall the food here more on the salty side.

Thai Express

Met up friend at Holland V but everywhere was full or had queue and we don't want to waste our time as we were hungry. Thai Express was our choice.

It had been quite a while I dine in this Thai restaurant.  I found that the menu has changed and price increased. I had Thai Sukiyaki ($11.3++), this is new added item compare with the old menu. I was wondering whether it is the same as the one I always love to order at Thai stall near my office. The lady kindly told me that it will be very spicy and we requested the sukiyaki sauce to be serve separately. I will add accordingly to my comfort level.

My friend had Pineapple Fried Rice ($11.90++). It seems alright to him. We shared Prawn Toast ($8.9++). It is prawn paste on toast and deep fried. Tasted good.

I had Watermelon Lime ($6.2++) as it said can't best to go with spicy stuff. I didn't feel much lime taste. But it is refreshing.  My friend had Coconut Drink ($6.2++). Coconut is really expensive in Singapore.

Inthanon Restaurant

It believes should be the highest Restaurants in Thailand – Inthanon Restaurant at the Royal Project, Doi Inthanon National Park. We had lunch fixed at this restaurant while visit the Doi Inthanon National Park (Chiang Mai). If you are taking the local tour to the national park, mostly you will had lunch here.

It was served as below, a few of us sharing 4 dishes - fried fish with gravy, unknow seafood soup but it tasted sour, stir fried chicken and vegetables. Overall, the dishes tasted average. I especially like the soup although I was not sure what is that. The way of the cooking very similar to the method that used by chinese except the soup. The rest is the usual way that I will cook my dish too.

E-Sarn Thai Corner

My friend recommended me this Thai restaurant while I was thinking what to eat and we happened to pass by it. She said she tried the tom yum clear soup and it is yummy.

An air conditioning restaurant definitely the best choice on this super hot weather. E-Sarn offers quite a large range of thai cuisines. After comparing the main menu and the set lunch menu, we decided to go for set lunch as it is more worth and come with drink.  You can top up additional $$ to change your drink option. Lunch set($7.5+) include a main course and drink. My friend had coffee and I topped up $2.5+ for young coconut.  We both added $2+ for tom yum seafood soup.

Beef Noodles Soup - beef broth with beef meatball and beef brisket. Tasted fine for me, I usually did not order this so not too sure where is the standard but it is fine for me.

Tom Yum Seafood Soup - the $2 add on, a bowl of seafood soup which you can find sliced fish, prawn and squid, looks very oily so before had the soup, I tried to removed the oil 1st. It tasted good, spicy enough for me.

Pad Ki Mao - fried kway teow with assorted vegetable, basil leaves, chicken and egg. Me and my friend quite like this as it has one unknown aroma smell(non basil), a bit not use to have basil leave in fried kway teow but the taste is really good.

King Omar Restaurant

This is a prata place that I found when I dine at this area. Sometime I will have prata craving and that day was the same so I thought of this restaurant.

I had Prata bom ($2) and my friend had egg prata ($2), we then shared the Mee Hun Goreng(Fried Mee Hun $3). Drink as usual we got Teh Tarik ($1). Total damange is $9, however the price individually I was not quite remember.

Prata bom that I had in Malaysia is prata fried crispy with sugar coasting,  the prata is filled with butter and kaya and tasted really nice. It will served with curry sauce. The one I had at King Omar shaped different but taste similar.  They added condensed milk to the filling so that is really sweet. I was quite curious why it did not serve with curry, so I requested for that. Only when I ate till middle I found all the sweetness there.
Egg Prata tasted average. The curry is nice, I like it. The fried bee hun is average too. Teh tarik quite disappointing but still not too bad.

Although this is Indian rrestaurant but it sells thai food too. It gives you more selection.

Chiang Mai Gate Hawker Stall

I had dinner twice at Chiang Mai Gate Hawker Stall on my 1st and last night in Chiang Mai. This is a good place to get your stomach fixed. You can find the mix vegetables stall, noodles, rice, fruits, desserts, drink etc. However, all of the item written in Thai language and there is no English stated so most of the time we can only guess from the food people have or based on the pictures.

All sort of kuih/desserts but we tried non of them as my family seems like no interest at all.

Noodles soup stall that we passed by and we felt that is the best for the hot food. It looks the same as our Stir Fried Kway Teow(wet), but the taste is totally different. They call this soup as there are lot of gravy. It smelled great but slightly too sweet for me as a savoury dish.

Mango sticky rice, very popular dish that you can see almost everywhere. Sticky rice taste average but what disappointed us is the mango. It didn't looks fresh and in fact we almost removed all the black dark area before we ate.

I did not see this stall on my 1st night. I love pad thai because of the noodles. We got the pad thai and tom yum soup to share as we felt like we wanna tried other stuff while walking around. Both tasted quite good and spicy. If you cannot take spicy, do remember to request for less spicy version. We also ordered some fried prawn from other stall. It tasted average but too oily for us.

I heard Thailand famous for it durian and we got one for RM8(after coversion). Why I remember this because I felt one piece of durian for RM8 is very expensive. It tasted totally not nice and we wasted the whole fruits.
