Shoebox Canteen

Rental isn’t cheap in Singapore, the new concept for surviving is sharing the space. There are some eatery places that started to have 2 faces, Day and Night. Shoebox Canteen joined the same concept but not due to the rental reason as they just want to have different concept. BY DAY: Shoebox Canteen, a 30-seater diner with a Western-style menu that changes monthly and open for lunch from Mon- Fri. BY NIGHT: Bitters and Love, a bespoke cocktail bar that stirs to life only after dark

I attended this meetup by Coffee & Cravings and thanks to the organizers, they arranged with Shoebox Canteen to serve us lunch on a Saturday. Shoebox Canteen said they don't charge GST or service charge and they tell us they use "premium ingredients, no msg ,no preservatives used, all home-made food at a very affordable price Sounds good right so below is what they offered us. A 4 course set meal  with $25 nett with the selection of the starter, drink and dessert fixed, but you are allow to choose your own main course from the below 3 listed.

MUSHROOM SOUP
+
YOUR CHOICE OF MAINS: RANCH BEEF BURGER(HOMEMADE BEEF PATTY, CARAMELISED ONIONS, STREAKY BACON, HAND-CUT CHIPS)
OR
SPAGHETTINI PRAWNS (TIGER PRAWNS, CHILI, GARLIC, OLIVE OIL, PRAWN STOCK BASE)
OR
CATCH OF THE DAYPAN FRIED SNAPPER (CURRY EMULSION, BLUE-SHELL MUSSELS, CREAMY MASH)
+
HOMEMADE APPLE TART WITH VANILLA BEAN ICE-CREAM
+
HOMEMADE LEMONADE ( INFUSED WITH THYME)

Mushroom soup tasted average, up to standard but not the best I tried. The snapper I did not get to taste, but I think it depends on individual as I received comment said it is so great and there are other said this is not their liking version.

The burger I had, I love the patty, bacon and caramelized onion. The bread will be better if they toasted more, not the best I had and it has to be go with the burger, sometime I like to try the bread by itself but tasted really normal for bread. The fries is hand cut, that doesn't increase its flavour but it is fresher and crunchiness is different from those you get in supermarket.

I did not have this but looks at what its presentation, I have the thinking like, it should be tasted standard. Talked to the diner, his comment is..like that lor..I think it meant it is normal.
