猪扒包 Pork Chop Bun

What to eat in Macau? Common answers will be the egg tarts and the pork chop bun. I had tried different Egg Tarts. I tried 2 different pork chop buns in Macau and both I feel too dry, I must eat alone with some drink.

Tai Lei Loi Kei, the most famous pork chop bun in Macau. It is at Taipa island and I was lucky that there wasn't too long queue when I arrived. The cafe is kinds of old and no place to sit, I saw from website there should have some seat before but I guess they removed it. Lot of items are out of stock in their menu, so we only managed to get the pork chop bun.

Here you see the famous bun. It looked tempting!!  How is the taste? Great, I especially like the pork chop, I think they marinated well and it came with bones. The bun is crispy and soft. As what you can see from the picture, it is really pork chop + bun, no other ingredient. I am not too use to this type of combination as it was too dry for me and I must eat with some drink. I still prefer if there are some lettuces or tomatoes that comes along. Oh ya..the bun is not cheap though. It cost me $23 if I did not remember wrongly.

On my last day back home, I need to take ferry and went back to Hong Kong international airport for my flight back. I was thinking to buy some food for my lunch in the ferry and I saw this. It is quite easy to find as it is along the way to St Paul. St paul's pork chop bun,  the picture looks good so I took away one. I wanted to see what is the different this one and the famous Tai Lei Loi Kei. They sell egg tarts too.

The taste for the pork chop bun here is different from the Tai Lei Loi Kei. The pork chop can tell you which one is nicer but it doesn't means it is bad, it tasted average. Generally, I prefer Tai Lei Loi Kei. The bun itself less crispy. The marinated pork chop tasted not as great and the colour somehow made me feel like it was not too fresh. hmmm..I think we cannot judge by the colour. The price is cheaper.
