A Lorcha 船屋葡國餐廳

I got to know about this restaurant from a friend's itenary. I then did a research online and seems like it is quite famous in Macau for its cuisines. I wanted to try the Portuguese food since it is part of the culture for Macau as it had been ruled by Portuguese for quite sometime. This is the first I tried and my 3rd day dinner, I tried 福龍葡國餐廳 Restaurant Dragon.

It is located near the Maritime Museum and A-Ma Temple. I went there on the Sunday night when we reached Macau and due to unfamiliar of the place, we actually walked quite a long way to get to this place. In fact we were on the wrong direction and in the end, we took cab here.

I had never try any other Portuguese or even the authentic one, so there is no way to compare with the real Portuguese food and I heard the Portuguese food in Macau has somehow blended to the local culture.

A Lorcha (the name means "wooden ship"), that is why you see the logo is a sailing ship. The decoration in the restaurant is cosy and I somehow quite like the wooden feel. An advise is it will be good that you make the reservation before going as it is always full, that is what I saw online. I did not follow that as I am somehow like trying my luck and it seems not too bad that night. We managed to get seat without reservation.

The complimentary bread was served warm and it was really nice to go with the butter. It supposed to be 1 each, however, our tables only served 2. Still I was enjoy with the bread while waiting for the food to be served.

I wasn't sure what to order, so I took the advise online to take Arroz de marisco($138), the Portuguese Mixed Seafood Stewed Rice. You have prawn, clamps and crab inside the stewed rice. The taste of the stew rice was good but the seafood somehow I felt not really fresh, I was not sure if it is because the way they cooked. My friends dun really like this type of stew rice and she think quite strangely and we stopped her for thinking as I thought it will affect our appetize. Their portion is quite big and it is good to share among 3 people, definitely we can't finish alone.

Galinha a portuguesa($128) - Macanese coconut and turmeric chicken, one of the common dishes people ordering. It tasted like curry but not spicy, may be because of the turmeric taste and it come with rice and it seems like is for 1 serving. I wonder how can one finished alone, as it has a lot of potatoes in the dishes. The dish was quite salty but it is best to go with white rice. Chicken was tender and quite special for me.

Overall, the food are nice for me, but so so for my friends. It could be we are not used to this type of food. The portion is quite big so I suggested for sharing. Like what we did, we ordered 2 and shared among 3 of us and we still cannot finish it.
