Old Street Dumpling

We had family trip to Melaka and I wanted my mum and sister try out the Melaka famous Nyonya dumpling. What is so special about this dumpling? It comes with blue glutinous rice.

Why is it blue? The blue colour comes from the blue pea flower. To get its nice ocean blue color -  Let the blue pea flower sit in the water for 20 minutes, squeeze out the pulp, let it cool. Add the blue pea colouring to the glutinous rice.  Then leave to soak overnight.

I got them 2 nyonya dumpling. Nyonya dumplings taste rather sweet than salty if compare to the normal traditional dumplings. It costed me RM3.50 per dumpling. This stall's nyonya dumpling not up to my standard but the meat filling just nice. I tasted better one in one  of the nyonya restaurant before. The filling should be slightly sweet but this one a bit toward to salty. Overall,  it just taste like other dumplings except it use minced meat.
