Why here? Because of its cute bear palm liked bao. I saw some magazines introduced this and my friend said Bugis have one and we went to try after work. I did an online search and found that they have branch at Orchard. However when we were there, we were told there isn't any branch for them as we found that they only have 3 types of bun(I somehow saw 5 types online), then we realized we mistaken the 2 shops as 1. That is another bao shop that having the same concept. I am not sure which one start business 1st but that doesn't matter, the taste determined everything.
The order sequences are like below.
- Choose your drink: If you are getting the set, you have to choose the drink 1st as that determined how much is your meal. If you order for more than a set, you still have to follow the below sequence to order one by one, no skipping like choosing the drink for all 1st. If you order ala carte then this can be the last step.
- Choose your bun: there are choices of original, milk and wholemeal
- Choose your filling: crispy chicken, spicy chicken and fish
- Choose your sauce: there are 8 different sauces for you too choose from. Choose the best that match with #3.
We were sharing the different choice we made. The crispy chicken with honey mustard - taste alright; the teriyaki fish that recommended - don't take this, taste strange; and spicy chicken with chili sauce - I guess is not a very good combination. Overall it tasted average. The bun itself is soft and quite tasty by its own.
The set meal starting with $6.50 and you can always check with ala carte menu at the counter.
