JJ Roll

A very famous cake shop that was recommended by a friend in Ipoh. It seems considered having the best Swiss roll in Ipoh. There are a lot of flavor you can choose from, range from different fruits to vegetables based.

We had Green Tea Swiss Roll(RM15) & Mixed Roll with cream cheese(RM20). There are 4 flavors in the pack - Spinach, Carrot, Banana & Pumpkin. I personally like the Swiss roll as it is really yummy, and the best part is not very sweet. I will visit again if I happen to pass by the place.

There are 2 cute iconic Swiss Rolls in front of the shop which the green on represent happy and the yellow one is kindness.

The Providore

Providore, not only a cafe by itself, it is also a brand of quite a number of products. I went to the Providore cafe at Orchard for a tea time while waiting for my next appointment. It has a grocery shop next door right opposite the cafe where you can buy coffee, tea, chutneys, pickles, savoury jam, sauces etc.

I had Mocha($5++) and Raspberry Cake($8.5++). It took me a while to decide what cake to have as quite a few looked so tempting but I can only have 1 at that time. I decided on raspberry cake simply because I wanted the sourness and I was glad that I really did a right choice. The mocha tasted standard, good for me. I especially love the cake to go with my mocha. A bit sourness and not to sweet, I was very pleased with my raspberry cake.

Alexis

I wanted to have some desserts and happened we went to The Garden, my friend the recommended me the  good tiramisu at Alexis. It is located at the 1st floor and the restaurant is quite big(as in it has bigger space), may be 2 shops area. The restaurant have smoking and non-smoking environment. I was here purely for its desserts as I did not try any of its main dish.

Bitter Sweet(RM13++) - tasted average for me as I personally like the moister type of chocolate cake and the cake layer was a bit dry for me.

Flat White(RM11.50++) - tasted good for me. My friend had Cafe Latte(RM11.50++).

Tiramisu(RM16++) - This was the reason I was at this restaurant. The highly recommended tiramisu. It is so far the most expensive tiramisu I had in Malaysia. It tasted quite nice with the caramel roasted almond(or nuts) on top of the tiramisu. I love tiramisu to be more cheesy where this overall is less cheesy. The cake on the shelf looked very big piece but it seemed we are unlucky, they served us with the smaller piece. It was served with strawbery sauce which added some points on that.

These were other interesting cakes that was disaplyed on the shelf on the day we visited. One of the popular item is pavlova cake, the reason why I did not get it because I tried the original from New Zealand before and it was very sweet. I was a bit scare of that so I missed it, if you are sweet tooth, do go ahead with this.

Kobo Bakery

Technically I did not ever try this bakery shop but I am going to when I go to KL again next time. It is a Japanese inspired bakery shop but I understand from its website the bakers all imported from Taiwan. When I was here, I really too full until I did not even have the urge to take away any bun as I was more interested with their cakes. My friend and her sisters highly recommended this bakery shop, so I think it must has have some interesting recipe.

Hoikaido Cupcake

I went for the Hoikaido Cupcake workshop for $55 per session and I feel the baking workshop is really expensive. This is the recipe that I got and we brought back 4 cupcakes. It is really easy to make although the preparation work are a lot. Try it out at home if you are interested.

PADI House

My friend brought us there, this is the 2nd time I been to Setiawalk, is an all-in-one development,  which comprising retail outlets, offices, apartments, SOHOs, hotel and entertainment centres. Both times I was here for its restaurant.

PADI is an Asian fusion restaurant, providing everything from pastas, rice dishes, cakes, coffee etc, is a combination of Chinese and Western delight cafe. We were here for lunch and great that not much crowd, I guess it will be more popular at dinner time/night.

Caesar Salad(RM9.5+) - standard looking, my friend commented that this is good, Green Salad with House Dressing(RM9.5+) - I like the house dressing so that made the salad good.

Cantonese Style Hor Fun(RM10.9+) - I was the only who went for chinese selection as I don't feel like to have western food although the cafe seems more popular with its western choice. The gravy was good but the noodles can be better as I think it was ready fried so the noodles all stick into one big ball and less fragrant (Chinese said less Wok Hei 镬气)

Cinvinnati Five Way(RM13.9+) - looks good and interesting. You have to eat it while hot. I like the sauce to be more gravy type whereas the version more watery. Tasted average.

Cheese Baked Tomato Rice with Seafood(RM16.9+), Deep Fried Chicken Parmigiana(RM17.9+). I tried the fried chicken, cripsy enough, taste average.

When everyone went for fruit juices, I was attracted with the coffee and cake promotion, if you get any cheesecake, you will be able to get the selected drink at 50% discount. I had Macademia Cheese(RM11.5+) and Cappuccino(RM3.45+, UP: RM6.9+). Coffee smells good, taste ok for me, the cheesecake is normal baked cheesecake but the caramelized macademia nuts on top tasted quite nice.
