Tampopo

We went to the Takashimaya Tampopo branch for dinner. I remember that their ramen is one of the restaurant that I like. I can't recall when is my 1st try but what I like the ramen here is it is not that salty compare to others. However,  my friend said this is just average.

We had one famous Pork Shabu Shabu Ramen and Hoikaiddo Ramen with Char Siew. Both tasted good to me, I personally like their signature one more. We ordered also the Cheese Scallop with looks good from the picture. The scallop was baked with cheese and topped with a raw egg. 1st time we see the dish served in this. We then quickly stirred in the egg with cheese. Overall, it tasted quite good.

Baikohken Ramen

I used to crazily tried most of the ramen in Singapore during that certain heat period. Then I stopped as I found most of the soup base are too salty for me. I occasionally still like to try out as I really like the tonkatsu soup and recently start to prefer miso.

This is 2nd time to Baikohken, the more 1st time is at the North Canal Road branch. I didn't know it has one at Takashimaya basement. With the experience for the 1st time,  I knew and I advised my friends not to go for shoyu and shio if they prefer light version. I took miso and great that the saltiness level is the one that I accepted.  Ramen is nice overall except the char siew which I was disappointed with it. It somehow have the taste that I don't like and there is better at elsewhere. I especially love the bean sprout that served with the miso ramen.

There are 2 sizes of the ramen and you can choose the smaller one if you are not big eater.  What is the difference? The lady told me less noodles and you will get less 1 char siew.  I made a right choice as the small one already make me feeling very full after I finished the whole bowl. I drank all the soup.

Mitasu Japanese Restaurant

My brother love this place and according to him that this is really popular due to its price and value. It is ala-carte buffet and the menu have a good choices. I advise you to make the booking, it was very full even on a weekday night. Environment is good. I like the restaurant setting.

We made the reservation early with the individual private room, however, due to a big group that come earlier than us, the restaurant manager gave away our reservation to others. Although they did apologize to us but isn't the purpose of reservation is to secure for a place? Miss the chance to enjoy the private room.

You can have the menu on the Facebook. Menu 1 | Menu 2. Do note that the price had increased to RM56.9++ per pax. **Update as at Aug 2014.

Salad - I like the sauce and fresh vegetables combination. Sashimi - salmon and prawn is good. I did not have oyster but I saw other tables was having a lot of this. So if you love oyster, you will really enjoy the free flow here. Prawn is small but I am fine with that.

Tempura - I am disappointed with this, it has a very strong oil taste to me. Not sure why, may be I am just unlucky for the day. Sushi - I did not taste as I have no room for that. My sister said that is average. One special Item my family love a lot is the cheese baked mussels. I don't eat that but they had a lot. Soba - good.

Tepanyaki - meat version is really nice, we tried beef, chicken and squid. All good. Mixed vegetables is bad, different chef?

Desserts - very normal but you have to try their home-made green tea ice-cream, that is the best out of all desserts choice. I had 5-6 scoops of it. I guess 5 of us may have around 30 scoops just for this green tea ice-cream. Sesame ice-cream was great too but slightly sweet for me.

Tontei

Japanese Tonkatsu, one of my favourite Japanese food. I was meeting a friend foe dinner and we went to Shokutsu 10, there are many Japanese restaurant in one place. It is one of my favourite eating place at Nex.

We had Kuro Ankake Nabe Udon ($14.9++). Udon in hot soup, we want something hot. The picture looks tempting so we got it. Tasted quite good.

Ajitsuke Tamago Tonkatsu ($20.90++) - special of the month. The flavoured egg stuffed in the pork, served with minced pork rice, chawanmuchi, sashimi and fruits.  The rice was slightly too salty but overall are good.

The meal came with the ocha ($1.2++) and we were full and satisfied.

Yaki Yaki Bo Teppanyaki Restaurant

I feel that Japanese Teppanyaki has almost the same standard among different restaurant. Yaki Yaki Bo Teppanyaki Restaurant is one of them. It provides standard Teppanyaki menu and food here served quite nice. I had been to this restaurant for a few time, trying different menu. Overall, the experience not good. There was one time, we felt the pork is not fresh or we did not know if that is the way to cook, it had a very strong smelly smell and my friend cannot even take the taste. We asked for change, the smell slightly better but still she felt that was bad for her.

Kobo Bakery

Technically I did not ever try this bakery shop but I am going to when I go to KL again next time. It is a Japanese inspired bakery shop but I understand from its website the bakers all imported from Taiwan. When I was here, I really too full until I did not even have the urge to take away any bun as I was more interested with their cakes. My friend and her sisters highly recommended this bakery shop, so I think it must has have some interesting recipe.
