Xian De Lai

This is steamboat place where you can find most of the people dine in having steamboat. Their steamboat is not like what we normally have in sharing.  The version here is each of you will get one hy yourself and it served like a vase kind pot.

We there not for the steamboat but the grilled fish. We ordered Black Bean Grilled Fish($34.90++) although the famous one will be Sichuan Spicy麻辣(super spicy) one but I decided not to try that as I am getting sensitive to my skin again. They have 5 different types of grilled fish and all having the same price.

The 1st picture for the grilled fish is the Cumin Grilled Fish which they served wrongly. The 2nd one is the one we ordered, the Black Bean Grilled Fish. It is still has a pinch of spiciness but that was fine for me. The grilled fish and the gravy(soup) tasted quite good for me but please drink a lot of water after having it. This is good for sharing even with 4 people if you have rice to go with. Just one thing we are not get used to it is the oil floating on top of the soup, I actually removed that oil before I ate, some people might feel that is the good stuff. I actually removed 1.5 rice bowls' oil away.

Old Town White Coffee

Old Town White Coffee originated from Malaysia and it has more than 200 stores in Malaysia and probably have 10 in Singapore. They are working to get it Halal certified in Malaysia and Singapore. Singapore just had it halal certified in Jun 2013. It is a good news for the Malay friends, they can now try the great coffee and good food there.

You straightaway know what you must try when you are here. The white coffee for sure! For those who do not that coffee, there are other drinks available for you to choose from. The nasi rendang here is famous too but we did not want to have such heavy meal in the morning so decided to go for the lighter version. We ordered the breakfast set which comes with a drink.

Kaya Toast + Boiled Eggs Set($5.50++) - the usual breakfast set that I will be ordering. The toast were good and so as the coffee.

Meehoon Siam Bungkus($4.90++) - tasted not bad but the beehoon portion is quite small

Wanton Noodles Soup Set($8.50++) - my friends said tasted ok, consider pass.

Char Siew Noodles Set($8.50++) - pass for the noodles and failed for the char siew. The reason why the char siew failed because it tasted too porky which I don't like it. My friend who is not that particular as me feel the char siew is quite good, better than some other place.

Rumah Sayang

This is the 1st time I visited Jem after it opened in Jun 2013. There are so many restaurant and why we choose this? Be frank, we all not sure what to have for dinner, very indecisive and I was so hungry, therefore I forced my friends to quickly pick any one of it, the draw then come to Rumah Sayang. When I looked at the item offered here, I was wondering are they sure, as both of them do not really take spicy food.

I actually stood there for at least 5mins, thinking what should I order? It seems nothing in my mind when I saw the price and the food, it is really too local and if I am going to food court, I might get something similar but with cheaper price. Nevertheless, it was still crowded on the day we went.

Laksa Set($5.50) - Laksa itself is $4.50, additional $1 for a tea, that is what I feel more worthwhile. The laksa tasted very unusual, not the normal santan one, I tasted sour, not sure is it nyonya style. I forgot to eat first only requested for more chili paste, see how much I had, so my laksa was quite spicy after additional chili.

Nyonya Fried Rice($7.50) - If I am not wrong about the price, it is spicy but tasted quite good. I never try satay but my 2 friends said satay tasted average only.

Polar Puffs & Cake

I bought a birthday cake from the Polar for a friend. I choseTiramisu as not much smaller cake available and I personally like Tiramisu. It is written on their website that this Tiramisu has wonderful blend of soft vanilla sponge soaked in coffee syrup and layered with light mascarpone cheese.

This is consider average but I may want to try other cake rather than Tiramisu as it is a bit sweet and I still prefer the Tiramisu with strong  mascarpone cheese. The coffee taste for this Tiramisu is not strrong.

Tiramisu(Petite) - $18.80

I tried their swiss roll and sugar roll, that is quite nice.
