Lola's Cafe

We heard about the good review of this cafe, hence always wanna to try out. If you have a big group, I highly recommend you to make the reservation, even you have only 2 people especially weekend. The cafe is small which can only seated at most 20 person. Few times when I passed by on weekend, I always see full house.

We made no reservation and our waiting time is around 20-minutes and had the table shared. I noticed that most of the table have the same orders as us even the table besides us.

Avocado Egg Benedicts($15) - Brioche Bread, avocado, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce with the garden salad. Simple and nice combination, the running egg yolks slightly raw. Not the best I had but still taste good.

Cappuccino($5), Mocha($5.5) - the standard is there but I still prefer the one with stronger coffee smell

Mushroom Melt($10) - I guess if I have an oven, I will try to simulate this at home. I personally like this very much. It is a combination of Brioche Bread, Swiss White Mushroom, Mozzarella cheese and cream. Simply delicious.

Lemon Meringue Tart($5) - I love lemon tart and almost try it everywhere. The version here balanced the sweetness and sourness. My friend highly recommended this. This is one of the best lemon tart I had. It is made in house.

Ice Edge Cafe

I met a friend for lunch at Ice Edge cafe which located at Simon Plaza, Kovan. It is easy accessible from Kovan MRT, 5 mins walk, behind Kovan Melody Condo. Their specialties are the gelato and desserts which started in August 2009. They have another branch at Upper Thomson.

There are more than 20 types of gelato for you to choose. You can have it by scoop or serve along with any desserts you ordered.

Nothing much to say about this Cappucino($4++). Coffee is not their highlight, therefore this is just very normal, better than instant coffee. They do not have any latte arts too.

Prawn Pesto Cream Linguine($17.80++) - taste good although it looks like not that creamy. My friend like it.

Pesto Cream Chicken($17.80++) - highly recommended from the review I read. It supposes served with fries which I requested to change with more vegetables but from  the dish served, I dun think they added more vegetables for me and yet no fries. Too much sauce and taste average. The chicken skin is not crispy and therefore I dun feel like eating as it taste like a thick fat skin which I normally will advoid.

Mao Shan Wang Lava Cake($14.80++) - Durian lava cake which I haven try at any other place, something special from Ice Edge cafe, you can choose a scoop of gelato and of course we got Mao Shan Wang too. The gelato tasted nice but I am quite disappointed with the lava cake. The MSW was flowing from cake, however, the cake have quite a strong eggy smell which I dun really like.
