Anti:dote

Me and my friends went there for the high tea because of the drawer concept Anti:dote has. We found that is pretty interesting. Most of the high tea I attended is buffet style, some come with tray too but Anti:dote offer high tea set which means the items are fixed and non refillable. It depends on how many people dining then they will bring the group drawer out. We are in a group of 3 so all the stuff are in one drawer box and looks really good. Environment is good partly because this is 5 stars hotel and all the interior designs have the standards. I feel like Tai Tai when I was seated.

You are allow to choose one tea from the list of 15 choices with 5 premium choices which you have to top up additional for it. We decided to just go to the standard. There are some special and lovely named tea. All the teas are from TWG. If you don't like tea, you can get the coffee with refillable.

We choose the Oriental Tea set reason being we attracted by the dim sum they have and we all love dim sum. Another selection is the anti:dote tea which none of us go for it. Only the appertiser is different for the drawer set is the same for both selection. That suppose to be the signature I think. We did not regret of our choice, the 3 dim sum they served are super yummy.

Once you have done with your appetizer, they will bring you the high tea set. That is what we were all waiting for. Like expected, everything was so nicely placed in the drawer.
Top level - all the sweet stuff. There are few items for example the tart I like it a lot. The chocolate is average to me
Middle Level - all savory stuff. I love all of them, there is one or two which is really super nice, but not many choices.
Bottom 2 Level - the scones with jam and biscuit. The biscuit they packed nicely so that you can bring back home if you can't finish it. My friends like the scones a lot but I did had better else where so that is average to me too.

How about the price? It costed us $53(including all the taxes), which is quite expensive for a high tea set. However, if you are high tea fan, you should try at least once for it. Overall, the experience is quite

Cafe L'Espresso

My 2nd time visit after few years and it is still the best high tea place among all those I visited. I particularly like the savoury session more than the sweet session.

The small pastries tasted really good and so as the other sandwiches. I did not tried the scone as I was too full. I love the bread pudding which I had 2 portions, the creme brulee is good too.
Slightly disappointed with the sweet session as I expected higher, only a few items are good. The ice cream from Movenpick is a good choice.

Overall, I still like the high tea environment,  if the weather is good, o do prefer to have outdoor seating. The current high tea price is as below:-

English Afternoon Tea: $45 per adult, $22.50 per child
(with 2 servings of coffee or tea; from a selection of premium coffee and TWG tea)

English Afternoon Tea: $68 per adult
(with a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne and 2 servings of coffee or tea)

Child price is for children 6 – 11 years of age. Prices are subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government taxes.

Dempsey House

I chanced to know this vintage high tea session why I was looking for the best high tea place in Singapore. However, the high tea buffet only available on Thursday and Friday which is an unusual time that I am able to go. It happened there is one day I was on leave, so I planned my afternoon there.

Dempsey isn't very accessible for me. I need to take at least 2 buses to reach here and if I want to walk in, that is a lot of walk as Dempsey House located the most inner. So, I will suggest to save time or energy, you either drive or take a cab in. The high tea is $30++ per pax, you will get 10% off if you come dressed to the 1920s.

Guess where is this place? It has creative design and you can even sit there for a rest or while waiting for your turn. This is the restroom.

I was happy to see the presentation, that is what attracted me. There are 4 teas to be served and you can interchange any-time if you would like to try others. I tried the first three and preferred Muah Muah the most. The lime juice with basil is the one that help you fill up with more sweet stuff. It is really very sour but it really helped a lot while I was having too many cake and desserts.

There wasn't much choice of the savoury but I did try each and everyone except the salad as I felt I don't have enough room for that. So, next time if you are coming for a high tea buffet, remember to have very light lunch. Among all the savoury stuff, I preferred only the think crust pizza and out of all pizza, I like squid ink pizza most but due to some reason, I was prohibited to take any seafood stuff. The puff stuffed cheese macaroni supposedly to be good but was quite disappointed. The puff skin was good but the filling was not great.

Next was all the assorted bread. I personally prefer this session more than the savoury one. However, bread was very filling so I tried all type of bread with the spreads once. The truffles mushroom was nice but slightly too salty for me, must go with bread. I like tuna pineapple most. Thai chicken tasted very average. There was also cheese platter which was not in the picture. 3 types of cheeses were served, all were great!

Be frank, I was really disappointed with this session as this was the stuff I most anticipated. I almost tried all the cakes and pastries but no cookies as I am not cookie lover. The only I felt nice is the earl grey mousse, the carrot cake and the chocolate cake. The assorted cupcake although having different flavour but all having the same base so nothing much. The double chocolate cupcake was nice. Cheesecake taste very average, sad with my bread pudding - too dry. The custard tart taste quite good but the crust was too think.
