Irish Mashed Potatoes

I wanted to try to make my own mashed potatoes for quite sometime but never have any action.  Last weekend I finally did it as I don't want to use cream so I found this recipe.  Tasted quite good.

Ingredients:-
  • 2 pounds potatoes(~approx 1kg), peeled and halved
  • 1 cup milk(~approx 235ml)
  • 1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced(if you dun like the strong smell, reduce it)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper to taste

Methods:-
  1. Place potatoes into large plate and steam for about 20 minutes. (Potatoes can be cut into smaller pieces so that it is easier to press if you are using normal spoon)
  2. Meanwhile, heat the milk and green onions gently in a saucepan, until warm.
  3. Mash the potatoes, salt and butter together until smooth. Stir in the milk and green onion until evenly mixed. Season with freshly ground black pepper. Serve piping hot in bowls. Set out some extra butter for individuals to add to their servings.
