Lorong 7 Toa Payoh Block 22 Food Centre is the nearest and easiest place to fix my tummy when I am hungry. However, this food center has limited stall open at night, so it is best to go for breakfast and lunch.
Economic Fried Bee Hun
This economic fried bee hoon and noodle is very popular in the morning, I always saw a long queue for that. Finally, I went to try it. It charges by item, for eg: bee hun is $1, most of the side dishes is $0.50, otak is $0.9. How is the taste? Not very fantastic but average. I got the kway teow and beehun, the side dish is not really expensive. It can be the reason why this is a famous breakfast choice.
Chao Zhou Fishball Noodle
I actually knew about this fish ball stall because there was once I took a taxi, the taxi driver told me how famous it is. He said if you try the one at ION Orchard food court(run by the son), you should try the one at TPY as that is run by the parent. The chili especially nice. I went there few time, sometime was not open, sometime too long queue. So when I checked with the aunty, I only know they do not open from Mon-Wed. The rest of the day they start to sell at 6am. I was there on one Sunday and I decided to join the queue. It took me 30 minutes for the queue, that is how famous it is. The noodle is $3 and the fishball is handmade. I got fishball noodles soup and another dry version. If you are on health concious, then go for the soup one. If you like me wanted to try the chili and like non soupy version, you can get the dry one. Both come with 5 pieces of fishball. You can choose to add more fishball(min 2) at $0.40 each.
So how is the taste? Is it so famous and worth for queuing? I don't like to queue, if the queue not more than 15-30mins and I am free, most likely I will go for it. I like the fishball and the chili as well - spicy enough. The fishball tasted quite nice, no fishy smell. You can't see the picture of my dish because of the lang wait and I was too hungry that I forgot to take the picture.
